Provision of HGS PassThru

Since 2010, the Euro 5 standard has been applicable for all new vehicles. It regulates, among other things, the type-approval of vehicles with regard to emissions. With the Euro 5 standard, manufacturers are obligated to provide independent repairers with unrestricted Internet access to all information relating to the maintenance and repair of the vehicles.

Only Euro 5-capable devices may be used to to program the ECUs. HGS PassThru is an interface used to install the latest software version from the online portal of the manufacturer on the vehicle ECU. The PassThru function is an add-on and does not replace the diagnostic procedure. Here, Hella Gutmann establishes a direct communication between the manufacturer's OEM server (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and the vehicle.
