Reading Out Parameters

Calling up the ECU parameters for the fault diagnostics after the trouble codes have been read has priority over all other work steps.

Proceed as follows to read out the parameters:

  1. Perform steps 1 to 11 as described in section Vehicle selection.
  2. CAUTION

    Pulling off of the HG-VCI PC when actuating the clutch

    Risk of injury or material damages

    Proceed as follows before startup:

    1. Apply the parking brake.

    2. No gear is engaged.

    3. Regard the window with information and instructions.

    Danger of short circuit and voltage peaks when connecting the HG-VCI PC

    Danger of destruction of automotive electronics

    Switch off ignition before connecting the HG-VCI PC to the vehicle.

  4. Connect the HG-VCI PC to the vehicle's diagnostic connection.
  5. Both LEDs of the HG-VCI PC flash.
  6. The HG-VCI PC is ready for operation.
  7. Select Diagnostics > Function > Parameters.
  8. Regard the warning notice.

    The selection of the following possibilities depends on the selected manufacturer and vehicle type:

    - Functions

    - Component groups

    - Systems

    - Data

  10. Select the requested assembly.
  11. Regard the warning notice if appears.
  12. Select the requested system.
  13. Observe the information and instructions windows.
  14. Call up the >Information< tab.
  15. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  16. Call up the parameter with .
  17. Select the OBD plug and system.
  18. Regard the window with information and instructions.
  19. Confirm the window with infos and instructions with .
  20. Communication to vehicle is being established. A selection window appears.
  21. The device automatically adds the most important parameters to the list Selected parameters:.
  22. Use in the bottom toolbar to call up information on the selected parameters in the parameter selection menu, e.g. component descriptions.
  23. An explanation of the selected parameter appears.
  24. Select the requested parameter group under Groups.
  25. Diagnose a certain problematic case directly by selecting a parameter group, as only the parameters required for it are stored.
  26. Select additionally required parameters in the list Available parameters: by double-clicking if required.
  27. You can select maximum 16 parameters at the same time.
  28. Start the parameter reading with .
  29. During the readout procedure, the recordings are automatically saved in the Car History under the previously entered license number.
  30. NOTICE

    A light blue bar in the top toolbar indicates how much of the memory space reserved for this purpose in the Car History has been used. If the blue bar is complete, the first data of the present measurement will be removed from the memory and the free capacity is filled with new data.

  31. Press to cache the records of the selected parameters.
  32. The recordings are saved in the Car History.
  33. The parameter readout will start again afterwards.
