Running the HGS PassThru Software

CAUTION

caution

Pay attention that the voltage supply during the entire procedure is not lower than 12 V.

A voltage drop may lead to the abortion of the download and the ECU may be damaged.

The old software version of the ECU cannot be re-established if an update is intended.

Proceed as follows to run the HGS Pass Thru software:

  1. Select Applications > PassThru in the main menu.
  2. The disclaimer is displayed.
  3. Read the disclaimer and confirm it at the end of the text.
  4. The PassThru function is active.
  5. Insert the USB cable into the USB port of the HG-VCI PC.

    Pulling off of the HG-VCI PC when actuating the clutch

    Proceed as follows before startup:

    1. Apply the parking brake.

    2. No gear is engaged.

    3. Regard the window with information and instructions.

    Danger of short circuit and voltage peaks when connecting the HG-VCI PC

    Danger of destruction of automotive electronics

    Switch off ignition before connecting the HG-VCI PC to the vehicle.

  8. Insert the HG-VCI PC into the vehicle's diagnostic connection.
  9. Both LEDs of the HG-VCI PC flash.
  10. The HG-VCI PC is ready for operation.
  11. Insert the USB cable into the USB port of the laptop/tablet.
  12. Connection is being established. Laptop/tablet is being connected to the vehicle via HG-VCI PC.
  13. Switch on the vehicle ignition.
  14. Observe the manufacturer's specifications.
  15. Select Start > All Programs > Hella Gutmann Solutions > HGS PassThru communication.
  16. Select the requested language.
  17. Start the communication test with >Start test<.
  18. The communication test is being started. Connection between laptop/tablet and HG-VCI PC is being tested.
  19. The connection between laptop/tablet and HG-VCI PC is active if the left row of arrows is green.
  20. The connection between HG-VCI PC and vehicle is tested afterwards.
  21. The connection between HG-VCI PC and vehicle is active if the right row of arrows is green.
  22. The connection between laptop/tablet and vehicle via HG-VCI PC is successfully established now.
  23. Finish the communication test with >Finish<.
  24. Call up the requested manufacturer website online with the laptop/tablet.
  25. Follow the instructions on the manufacturer portal.
  26. Select PassThru (HG-VCI PC) of Hella Gutmann.
